This class will meet online from November 20th to January 8th. Please note there will be no class on December 25th and January 1st due to holidays.
About the instructor:Jennifer is an experienced educator with over thirteen years of teaching expertise in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Special Education. Originally from the Philippines, Jennifer grew up immersed in the Tagalog language, which she studied and later taught. Her passion for teaching is complemented by her impressive academic background, holding one bachelor's degree and two master's degrees in education.
Jennifer has taught in both the Philippines and the United States, with ten years of her teaching experience rooted in her home country and an additional three years in the U.S. She is certified to teach in the Philippines, as well as in the states of Montana and Nevada. Beyond her work in English and Special Education, she has also taught basic Filipino/Tagalog language classes, further broadening her teaching expertise.
Currently based in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jennifer is pursuing a Juris Doctor degree and working on her PhD in Literature. Her love for reading and traveling fuels her desire to continually expand her knowledge and enrich the lives of her students through diverse perspectives and innovative teaching approaches. Passionate about education and lifelong learning, Jennifer is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the classroom while advancing her own academic journey.
About the class: The Tagalog Beginner 2 class is the next level of language instruction designed for students who have completed the Tagalog Beginner 1 course or have a basic understanding of Tagalog vocabulary and grammar. Building upon the foundation laid in the previous level, this class aims to further develop students' proficiency in the Tagalog language and enhance their ability to communicate effectively.
Throughout the course, students will expand their vocabulary and learn more complex grammatical structures to deepen their understanding of Tagalog. They will delve into various thematic topics such as family, food, travel, and daily routines, allowing them to engage in more detailed conversations and discussions. Emphasis will be placed on improving listening and speaking skills, as well as reading and writing abilities.
In the Tagalog Beginner 2 class, students will engage in interactive activities and group discussions to practice their communication skills. They will be encouraged to express their thoughts and opinions in Tagalog, and the instructor will provide guidance and feedback to help students improve their pronunciation, fluency, and grammar usage.
By the end of the class, students should be able to engage in meaningful conversations on a wide range of topics, understand more complex written texts, and express themselves more confidently in Tagalog. They will have expanded their vocabulary and acquired a deeper understanding of the language's grammatical structures.
