About the instructor:Joy was born, raised, and educated in the Southern part of the Philippines, where she got her bachelor’s degree, majoring in Communication Arts in Filipino, and was a Language Teacher in a public school before moving here in the USA. Since then, she became a sub-contractor (and sometimes an independent contractor) to Language Services companies on the East Coast, serving military officers as well as Foreign Service Officers. With more than a decade of experience in Tagalog Language Training, whether it is teaching/training Tagalog to diplomats heading to the Philippines, developing language curriculums for contracting government agencies or companies, or creating standardized test materials for language testing, she does it all with enthusiasm, perfection, and love for her work. She believes that language is a tool to understand a culture, and culture is what connects people.

Low Beginner Tagalog is the next step for learners who have already completed an introductory course or have studied Tagalog for several months. This level is designed for students with a foundational understanding of the language, including basic vocabulary, simple sentence structures, and familiarity with common phrases.

The course builds on prior knowledge, introducing more complex grammar concepts, expanding vocabulary, and enhancing conversational skills. Students will delve deeper into verb conjugations, sentence construction, and the use of modifiers, while also practicing more nuanced pronunciation and intonation.

Interactive activities such as role-playing, guided conversations, and situational exercises will help students apply their knowledge in practical, everyday contexts. Reading and writing exercises will also become more advanced, focusing on short paragraphs and simple dialogues to develop well-rounded proficiency.

By the end of the course, students will have a stronger grasp of Tagalog and greater confidence in using the language in a variety of situations. This level is ideal for those who wish to continue building on their foundational skills and progress toward better fluency.
